Aston Fields Middle School's Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy is available for parents/carers to read on request from the school office or by clicking on the following link:

Further information regarding how to keep your child safe online is available on our online safety page here.

Parents/carers should be aware that the school has a legal duty to assist Social Care with Child Protection enquiries and sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare.

The school has also adopted the following nationally recommended safeguarding statement as part of its recruitment procedures:

Aston Fields Middle School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

It is important that we work together to safeguard our pupils. If a parent/carer has any concerns about the safety of children at our school, this should be reported to one of our Safeguarding Team below, even if already reported to the Police or Children's Services. You can do so by phoning the school office on 01527 876026 or emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. Prevent Strategy

From July 2015 all schools (as well as other organisations) have a duty to safeguard children from radicalisation and extremism.

Prevent is part of CONTEST, a government strategy designed to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorist or extremist causes. This means we have a responsibility to protect children from extremist and violent views the same way we protect them from drugs or gang violence. Importantly, we can provide a safe place for pupils to discuss these issues, so they better understand how to protect themselves.

We will also protect children from the risk of radicalisation, for example by using filters on the Internet to make sure they cannot access extremist and terrorist material, or by vetting visitors who come into school to work with pupils.
