National Support School / National Leader of Education
Aston Fields Middle School moved from an Ofsted Grade 4 "Inadequate" to an Ofsted Grade 1 "Outstanding" over a five year period from June 2009 to June 2014.
In February 2015, the National College for Teaching & Leadership designated Aston Fields Middle School as a National Support School and its Headteacher, Mr S P Cox, as a National Leader of Education.
Staff at Aston Fields Middle School are experienced in supporting other schools and have helped several schools to go up an Ofsted grade in recent years. Areas of strength relate to all aspects of school improvement and advice to Governors on Headteacher's recruitment and appraisal. The school also specialises in providing bespoke support for 'middle' schools. In addition, the school has six Specialist Leaders of Education who provide specific support in the areas of English, SEND, Music, Behaviour for Learning, ECTs, RS/Character Education, Physical Education, and School Business Management.
