After university, Mrs Flannigan took violin lessons with Felix Cok/Louis Carus, and piano with Joseph Weingarten. She then went on to Bretton Hall for teacher training.

Mrs Flannigan has worked since qualifying for Wiltshire music service , Coventry music service and the Sultanate of Oman with the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra. She returned to the UK to work for Northumberland music service before the wanderlust returned and she worked in Spain at the Academia al Musica in Alhaurin el Grande. Mrs Flannigan is now back working in Worcester and says "I'm always playing and enjoying teaching. Music has been part of my whole life and long may it continue.....". Mrs Flannigan teaches violin, piano and keyboard at Aston Fields Middle School on a Wednesday.
